Patriot adopts a prudent and common sense approach to investing, the key tenets of which include:

Buying shares in companies as though we were buying the entire underlying business - accordingly, our core focus is on the valuation of individual companies;

Buying shares in our preferred companies at a significant discount to our assessed valuation or at a “margin of safety”;
|
|
|
Capital preservation – the potential risk of losing investment capital is an important consideration in our investment decision-making process as well as the potential for making positive investment returns;

|
|
Avoiding the daily “stock market noise” and short term stock price gyrations, except insofar as they present us with attractive buying or selling opportunities; and
|
|
|
Investing with a 3 to 5 year time horizon.
